Fallera Calavera Tournaments

Over the years, Falla Barri d’Onda has organised several La Fallera Calavera tournaments, always with the aim of offering an open and enjoyable activity where both members of the commission and anyone interested in the game can gather around a table and take part.

Each edition has had its own participants, winners, prizes and memorable moments, making these tournaments a much-loved part of the Falla Barri d’Onda activity programme.

Below you can find all editions of the La Fallera Calavera tournaments organised by Falla Barri d’Onda, together with the information and results from each one.

In our La Fallera Calavera tournaments, we use our own card in place of El Misteri d’Elx. This card is La Bruixa del Barri d’Onda, designed by Sergi Navarro Godos for our falla and inspired by the witch featured on our emblem.

The card was visually created to fit within the universe of La Fallera Calavera and also includes its own gameplay mechanic, designed so that it can be properly used during tournament matches rather than serving only as a decorative item.

La Bruixa del Barri d’Onda is not an official Zombi Paella card and is not part of the original game, nor was it created or agreed upon with Enric Aguilar. It is a fan-made creation by Falla Barri d’Onda, produced exclusively for use in our tournaments.

Tournament Rules
REGISTRATION:

Anyone may register, regardless of age. Registrations are individual.
There is a maximum of 40 places, which will be allocated strictly in order of registration.
Participants may register until the day before the tournament.
To register, the following information must be provided: First Name, Surname, Age and Telephone Number.
The registration fee is €3, payable in advance.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The tournament will be played using the cards from La Fallera Calavera and its expansion, La Fallera Calavera 2: Els ingredients de la Discòrdia.
The effect of the El Misteri d’Elx card will be replaced by the La Bruixa del Barri d’Onda card.
Each participant will be assigned a number according to their registration order. Table assignments will be decided by a random draw before the tournament begins.
Tables will normally consist of 4 players. If the total number of participants is not divisible by 4, some tables will have 3 players.
Each player will play 3 rounds of 45 minutes each.
After each round, participants will receive points based on the result of the game and the treasures they have on the table at the end of the game.
For the second round, participants will be regrouped according to their score, so that they play against opponents with a similar score.
The third round will follow the same system.
At the end of the third round, the four highest-scoring participants will play a final round.
The winner of the final round will be declared tournament champion.

SCORING
At the end of each round, points and treasure points will be awarded:

Points: The winner receives 6 points. The other players receive as many points as the number of ingredients they have in their display. Chorizo does not count, and seafood ingredients are worth half a point each.

Treasures: Each player receives as many treasure points as the number of treasures they have in their display at the end of the game. Ingredients do not count as treasures.

The overall ranking will be determined by the total number of points accumulated.
In the event of a tie on points, the number of treasures will be used as the first tiebreaker. If players are still tied, the number of games won will be taken into account. If the tie still remains, the final ranking will be decided at random.
